Originally begun in 1973 as a wargames publisher, Games Designers Workshop got into role-playing with Traveller in 1977 following this with several other fascinating games. Unfortunately financial difficulties got the better of them and they closed in 1996 - fortunately several game lines are still available as PDFs through DriveThruRPG, due to a resurrection under the name of Far Future Enterprises led by Marc Miller, original author of Traveller.
