I am absolutely certain that I am not the only role-player who draws inspiration for her games from far beyond gaming material: the real world, fiction and movies all play their part. Role-playing publishers have latched on to this, and several produce novels based in their game worlds - often fertile ideas and a way to add colour to your own games. While actual role-playing product is the main focus of RPG Resource, I intend to highlight in this section books and films which have proven particularly inspirational.

While I'll try to group things by genre or game system, don't be afraid to spread your net wide in search of inspiration: a future-tech horror movie worked very well as a Dungeons & Dragons adventure when I turned up one night to find that nobody had prepared a game!
