The one that began it all, launching the Storyteller rules system and White Wolf into prominence. In this classic, characters take on the role of modern vampires, with an unlife filled with intrigue and debauchery.

Running through three editions, which were in the main revisions and honing of the ruleset rather than completely new games (everything is compatible), the game was replaced in the New World of Darkness by Vampire: The Requiem which rewrote the entire backhistory and mythology of vampires. In 2011, a 20th Anniversary Edition (V20) was produced, viewed as a compilation and celebration, rather than a new edition. Meanwhile, White Wolf are working hard to ensure permanent availability of PDF copies of all titles, and have now passed the torch to Onyx Path Publishing who are producing new product for V20, and in August 2015 announced their intention to begin work on a fourth edition of Vampire: The Masquerade.
