Forgotten Realms is the archetype 'High Fantasy' setting for Dungeons & Dragons. Devised by Ed Greenwood and first appearing for AD&D as a TSR publication, it has been revamped for D20 under the auspices of Wizards of the Coast, and is the home of the original Living City (US) and Sarbreenar (UK) shared campaigns.

With the introduction of 4th Edition D&D, it has been the first campaign setting released by Wizards of the Coast for the new ruleset; and GenCon US 2008 saw the launch of a 4e Forgotten Realms-based shared campaign, Living Forgotten Realms.
