It is not surprising that a movie series as epic and adventurous as Star Wars quickly found its way into role-playing. The first game came from West End Games, using a D6-based mechanic, running to two editions and a host of supplements and adventures; while the second came - with the advent of the second movie trilogy - from Wizards of the Coast using their D20 game mechanic. In 2007, Wizards completely rewrote the ruleset to create the 'Saga Edition.' After Wizards relinquished their licence in May 2010, there was a hiatus until Fantasy Flight Games took up the torch - or should that be lightsabre? - in 2012.
