Chivalry and Sorcery was launched in 1977 by Fantasy Games Unlimited. Noted for extreme detail and mediaeval grittiness, character generation includes a fair bit of randomicity as well as choice. Both combat and magick aimed at realism, with several different magickal traditions to choose from, each with its own distinctive practices and spells, many of which took time and preparation to learn.
