The Robotech RPG, published by Palladium Books, was launched in 1986 based on the Robotech and Robotech II: The Sentinels series - a US TV show based on some Japanese anime stories. It ran through to 1995 with reprints continuing to 1998. In 2008 a second series called Robotech II and based on Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles was released.

The core concept involves 'mecha' - giant fighting machines piloted by human beings - used to fight off alien invaders. Game mechanics are a modified version of those used in the Palladium Fantasy RPG which is based around physical and mental statistics generated by rolling 3D6, and the use of a D20 in combat, with percentile dice used for skill resolution. This game line is of particular significance for introducing Mega Damage Capacity (MDC) to the Palladium System, as well as, of course, mecha themselves.

In February 2018, Palladium announced that they were reliquishing their Robotech licence, and that sale of existing product would cease at the end of March 2018.
