Danger Magnet # 000

Danger Magnet # 000

Designed to whet the appetite, this short preview issue contains a single article and a preliminary version of what will be Issue # 1's cover - grade A pulp image of half-naked female and a few greeblie monsters!

The article - The Tomb Beetle - describes a monster that might be found lurking in tombs. Its scarab-like appearance suggests that ancient Egyptian tombs would be a suitable setting for it. While ferocious, they never attack their own kind, but will go for anything else that invades their hatching ground, particularly if there is any chance of them being edible. When no food is around, they are capable of hibernating for thousands of years but can arouse to full ferocity in an instant.

A range of ideas for using these beasties in your adventures is included. The obvious one is to have the characters encounter them when poking around a long-deserted tomb, but you might prefer to give them the opportunity of rescuing some hapless soul who's buried up to his neck in sand with natives about to tip a tub of tomb beetles over him, or even more bizarre options.

On its own, a single Tomb Beetle isn't too bad, but... the little horrors form a swarm and that's far more difficult to deal with! Overall a neat if unoriginal hazard.
