Dungeons & Dragons 3e: The Great City - The Saltshacks

The Great City: The Saltshacks

Docks and boats can provide for entertaining adventure - and if this appeals, here's a setting in which to indulge. The storyline suggests its inhabited by halflings but there isn't anything in the maps to force that if it does not suit your needs. The overview map is excellent, with a twisting maze of piers and jetties with several boats and sheds - you start imagining a chase or running battle before you even turn the page. Next comes the Lair of the Drunken Halfling, a tavern mounted on a floating pontoon, with rowboats moored around. There's also a typical houseboat, with two decks, a barge used for fish processing and finally 'The Mall' - a large vessel that's been dry-docked and converted into a general store.

The usual technical mastery of PDF technology is evident, but it's the sheer inventiveness and variety of the locations that makes this mapset a winner.
